Terms of use
Last updated: July 9, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Only Issues (the "Service"), operated by Lean Towards Joy ("we," "us"), based in Winchester, Massachusetts. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old to verify a vote. Browsing and reading are open to everyone. By using the Service you confirm the information you provide is accurate and that you'll follow these Terms.
What Only Issues is — and isn't
- The Service presents federal legislation using each bill's own title and the neutral summaries written by the Congressional Research Service, sourced from Congress.gov, and lets you vote support or oppose.
- Results reflect self-selected, phone-verified users of Only Issues — not a scientific poll of the public and not an official government tally.
- The Service is for information and civic engagement. It is not legal, voting, or professional advice, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Congress or any government agency.
Your account and voting
- Verification is one person, one account. You agree to maintain a single verified account and to cast one vote per bill.
- You may not create multiple or fraudulent accounts, use bots or automated means, or otherwise attempt to manipulate, inflate, or distort vote counts.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service — including by breaking the law, infringing others' rights, attempting to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the Service, or scraping or using the Service in a way that harms it or other users.
Intellectual property
Bill titles, summaries, and classifications are U.S. Government works accessed through Congress.gov and the Congressional Research Service, and are attributed accordingly. The Only Issues name, design, and software are owned by Lean Towards Joy; please don't copy or reuse them without permission.
Third-party services
The Service relies on Google Firebase (authentication, database, and hosting) and on data from Congress.gov. Your use of those underlying services is also subject to their respective terms and policies.
Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that bill information is complete, current, or error-free, or that the Service will be uninterrupted. Always confirm official bill status on Congress.gov.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lean Towards Joy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
Changes
We may update the Service or these Terms. If we make material changes to these Terms, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
